Prisoners – 2 hrs 26 mins.  Drama/Suspense/Thriller

Director:  Enis Villeneuve, CAST:  Jake Gyllenhaal, Hugh Jackman, Terrence Howard, Viola Davis, Paul Dano, Milissa Leo, Maria Bello

When two young girls, ages 6 and 7, are abducted, their parents’ lives quickly change.  One of the girl’s fathers, Keller Dover (Hugh Jackman) leaves his grief-stricken wife, medicated in her bed, while he scouts out the likely suspect. With the clock ticking away precious time,in desperation Dover decides what he must do to save the girls.  He baits his his friend (Terrence Howard) into joining him in extracting information from the accused man. Meanwhile, Detective Liki (played by Jake Gyllenhaal) follows his own leads.

The title might be interpreted in any number of ways:  who really is the prisoner:  the children, the suspect,or the desperate fathers who lead the charge of the brigade?  It begs the question of its audience: In the same position what would you do to get your child back?

Till the last breathe of the film you’ll be on the edge of your seat hoping for the best, not knowing if everyone  survive a complicated twist in the plot.  Casting and acting is extraordinary . ★★★★
